Different Poker Games

Poker games come in different shapes and sizes. Poker games also have the weirdest sounding versions and with a few standard formats. We can break poker games into three different categories:

1. Stud Games - this for the 7 card stud 2. Draw Games - this is for 5 card draw 3. Shared Hand Games - this is for Texas Hold'em

There are still some hidden games that do not fit into any of these categories, considering with a few minor exceptions that have become more or less with home-made rules.

The following are brief statements that describe some of the poker variations:

5 Card Draw Poker

This game of poker is played by 3 to 7 poker players. Each player is dealt with five cards and there is an available round where betting is based on the hands of the players. After the players bet, players can now place three cards back to exchange for new cards, however, the player can exchange for four cards if his fifth card is seen to be an ace. Once more the betting is on for a few more rounds and the best cards on hand wins.

7 Card Stud Poker

This game of poker is played by 3 to 10 players. Each player is dealt with two cards both facing down and one card facing up and there is also a round for betting. After the betting three more cards are dealt facing up with betting with every round. The final and seventh card is dealt facing down and there is another round of betting before the final showdown.

Caribbean Poker

This is one of the poker games that is played in a casino between the dealer and the player. Each is dealt five cards and the player can decide if he wants to bet after seeing his card and seeing the dealer's card first. If the player has better cards on his hands the dealer will pay him with fixed odds but it depends on the value of the card.

Pai Gow Poker

This is a complicated game of poker in a casino being played between the seven players against the dealer. The jack is included in the cards and has a value of either an ace or any value of the card that is required to complete the straight or the flush. All seven players and the dealer are dealt with seven cards and split the seven cards into two, two and five. The five cards should be the better cards than the two cards. The dealer will show his cards. Five cards of the dealer versus the five cards of the seven players and the two cards of the dealer versus the two cards of the seven players.

Texas Hold'em Poker

Definitely, Texas Hold'em is the most popular among all the other poker games in the casinos today and probably in the world. This poker game is easy to learn but extremely hard to master. Players are dealt with two cards, and then followed by three facing up placed on the table, this is the flop, and another card dealt facing up placed on the table, this is the turn, and the last card that is dealt facing up on the table, this is known as the river. Players will use the cards to make the best five cards in their hands. There is the round of betting before the card on the flop and also before the turn and before the river. And the last betting is after the river card.
